The Kamrup Metro District Administration and Traffic Department have been issued various traffic restrictions and guidelines for the Durga Puja festival in Guwahati. Traffic restrictions have been announced from October 9 to October 13,2024, to ensure public safety and facilitate smooth passage for emergency vehicles. All goods vehicles can enter the city only between 4 AM and 12 Noon during this periods.
Multiple areas will have no entry restrictions from 2PM to 2AM. Dr RP Road will be one way from Ganesh Mandir to Ganeshguri Byover. Pir Azan Fakir road will be one way from Beltola Tiniali to Jayanagar Chariali.
Entry will be prohibited from Fatasil Chariali, Railway Gates 6,7,8 and Sati jaymati Road besides, no goods-carrying vehicles will be allowed from Paltanbazar, Panbazar, Fatasil, and Bharalumukh.
Additional traffic restrictions have been implemented in several areas og Guwahati. In the Panbazar police station jurisdiction,vehicles are prohibited from entering H.B. Road or Gate No.4 from M.S. Road.
In the Chandmari and Geetanagar police station areas, entry from Anuradha point to Hatigarh Chariali is restricted. In the Noonmati police station police station area, vehicles are not allowed to enter from Hatigaon Chariali. The Latasil police station area, vehicles are not permitted on F.C. Road between High Court point and Latasil Chariali.
Commercial passenger vehicles, particularly those having All Assam Tourist permit coming from the Lower Assam side, will be terminated at Adabari bus terminus during the day of puja. Similarly, vehicles coming from the Upper Assam side be allowed to come up to ISBT Betkuchi. The ASTC undertaking buses coming from Lower Assam side shall not be allowed to enter from Jalukbari and will be diverted to ISBT.
The Guwahati Traffic police has urged all citizen to strictly adhre to the restrictions imposed during the Durga puja festival, which are necessary to maintain order, public safety and smooth vehicular movement.
