Prathana Mahanta, May 12: Homen Borgohain was born on December 7, 1932 in Dhakuakhana, Lakhimpur. His noteworhy works include Astarag, Pita Putra, Halodhiya Soraye Baudhan Khai. His autobiography includes Atmanuxandhan, Mur Xangbadik Jiwan. He worked as the Editor-in-Chief of newspapers and magazines titled Aamar Asom, Axom Bani, Nilachal, Xutradhar, Nagorik, Xatxori and Niyomiya Barta.
He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award for Pita Putra in the year 1978. He was one of the foremost intellectuals of Assamese literature. He was truly a blessing to Assamese literature who influenced generations of readers and aspiring writers. Homen Borgohain, the workhorse was referred to as ‘batabrikkha’ of Assamese literature. He will live in our hearts forever.
