Swachh Bharat Mission 2.O targets to achieve garbage-free cities , says PM Modi

New Delhi , October 1 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday stated that the aim of Swachh Bharat Mission 2.O is to make the cities waste-free while addressing at the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U) 2.O and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.O . 
The Prime Minister said that the country also aims to manage sewage and safety , make cities water-secure and ensure that dirt doesn’t merge into rivers. He further mentioned that the second phase of SBM-U 2.O and AMRUT 2.O is a chief step in fulfilling the dreams of BR Ambedkar. 
SBM-U 2.O and AMRUT 2.O have been designed to meet the aspirations in achieving ‘Garbage-free’ and ‘Water-secure’ . Such flagship mission will address the challenges of India’s speedy urbanization and will also help contribute towards the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
