Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu takes oath as 15th Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday

Four-time MLA from Nadaun assembly constituency Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was sworn in as the 15th Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday, December 11. The event was attended by former Indian National Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, current AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and various other INC ministers. On the other hand, Mukesh Agnihotri took oath as Deputy Chief Minister of the hill state. Governor of Himachal Pradesh Rajendra Biswanath Arlekar administered the oath to the two ministers at the swearing-in ceremony held at Ridge, Shimla.

Point to be noted that there were several candidates for the post of Chief Minister in Himachal Pradesh. One of them was present Himachal Pradesh state Indian National Congress president Pratibha Singh. But INC High Command ordered to choose Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu as 15th Chief Minister of the hill state. Moreover, the majority of INC MLAs of the state supported Sukhu to become a Chief Minister.

Notably, the Indian National Congress party ousted BJP from power in the recent Assembly Election and established their own dominance. The result of the Himachal Pradesh polls were announced on December 8. INC won 40 of the 68 seats and BJP won 25 seats while others won 3 seats.
