State Awards to 5 student volunteers of NSS Unit, Gauhati University

Guwahati, January 20: National Youth Day was celebrated on 12 January at Nehru Stadium by following all Covid protocols. Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Borah, IAS officer Maninder Singh, Member Secretary for Student and Youth Welfare Pavitra Margherita, Vice-president, Sports Authority of Assam Lakshya Konwar, Sahitya Akademi Award winner Dijen Chandra Das, ACS officer Nivedita Das Patowary, Director of NSS, North-east Dilip Kumar and many representatives from educational institutes were present at the programme.
It is mentionable that Olympic Bronze Medalist Lovlina Borgohain was also present at that programme. State Awards are given to 20 volunteers and 10 executive members from 2019-20 and 2020-21 National Service Scheme (NSS). 14 members of NSS cell, Gauhati University and 5 members of NSS Unit received this prestigious award. The 5 award winners are Nitul Kalita, Sailen Kalita, Naijul Hoque Choudhury, Kamal Deka and Rita Gowala respectively.
All of them showed their gratitude to Director of Student Welfare, Gauhati University Dr Ranjan Kumar Kakati and Rituparna Bora as they have helped them a lot by suggesting valuable advices. Vice-chancellor of Gauhati University Pratap Jyoti Handique, Registrar Dr Hemanta Kumar Nath and Director of Student Welfare Dr Ranjan Kumar Kakati wished congratulations to them.
