Shruti Haasan-Santanu Hazarika to celebrate Rongali Bihu in Assam

Prathana Mahanta, April 9: Taking to the social media, Shruti Haasan confirmed that she will be arriving in the state on April 9. She said, ”I am so excited to attend wonderful and colourful festival of Assam, ‘Rongali’. Joi Aai Axom!” This will be her first visit to northeastern state. She will be accompanied by her boyfriend Santanu Hazarika who is a popular illustrator and doodle artist. Hailing from Guwahati, Santanu Hazarika’s work is internationally recognized and has worked for Addidas, singer Raftaar, Divine and news agency NDTV. 

The sixth edition of ‘Rongali’ has started from April 8 at Veterinary College Ground, Khanapara, Guwahati. Notably, the food exhibition will be curated by renowned food consultant Dr. Geeta Dutta. Priyobandhu, a voluntary organization in Guwahati, founded by Archana Borthakur, will organize a food competition of ethnic foods.

”We started Rongali in 2015 with an aim to showcase the ethnic mosaic of Assam and promote the spectacular music, dance, crafts, and food culture of the state. Rongali 2022 will also bring entire facets of Assam under one roof. Bodo, Mising, Dimasa, Rabha, Gorkha, tea tribes, Moran, Karbi, etc various communities will display their colourful culture. Special Exhibition of Tea tribes communities will be a major attraction,” Shyamkanu Mahanta, Chief Organizer, Rongali added.
