Digital Desk, June 23: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma has filed Rs 100 Crore defamation suit against AAP leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The suit was filed in the Court of Civil Judge No 1 Kamrup (Metro) on Tuesday. ”Manish Sisodia gave a political statement and dragged my client Riniki Bhuyan Sarma. She has donated PPE kits under CSR activities, ” Advocate Kishor Kumar Dutta added.
Present Chief Minister Sarma was the Health and Family Welfare minister in 2020. Riniki Bhuyan Sarma had denied any wrongdoing in the supply of PPE kits to National Health Mission. The government in power and Riniki Bhuyan Sarma termed the allegations as ‘false, imaginary, malicious and of vested interests.
Notably, Manish Sisodia had told newsman that while the Assam government procured PPE kits for Rs 600 each, Mr. Sarma gave urgen t supply orders to the firms of his wife and son’s business partners for Rs 990 a piece.
