On saturday, a one-horned rhino of Kaziranga National Park was hit by a over speeding truck on National Highway at Haldibari, area in Kaziranga when the rhino was crossing the road. The incident was captured in the CCTV camera and the video was shared by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Twitter. In the CCTV footage , the rhino was seen hit by a truck but after being hit by the speeding truck, the full grown rhino was thrown off balance.
A forest official said , the speed limit at Haldibari is 40 KM per hour but the truck was speeding at 52 KM per hour. The Chief Minister informed that the Rhino has survived and that truck has been seized at kaliabar in Nagaon by the forest and traffic department of Golaghat district and been intercepted and fined of rupees nine thousand.
Also, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted in his twitter that ” Rhinos are our special friends, we’ll not allow any infringement on their space”.
