Saswati Sarma,Guwahati , September 30 : Niri 9,Northeast India’s most prominent OTT platform , is going to organise a short film festival on 2nd and 3rd October , 2021 at Anuradha Cineplex. Twenty films have been officially selected for the competition out of sixty films from all over India.
The film festival will begin at 9 a.m with the introduction and felicitations in addition to an official announcement of the festival by the chief guest. There will also be an open forum on the topics concerning issues relating new gateways towards film bazar,film producers’ problems and alternative business opportunities,affect of lockdown in cinema theatres and the recovery strategies , problems faced by OTT operations in North East and their solution.
The starting and ending of the entire film festival will be accompanied with the performance of two non-contesting films . The production will commence with the opening film “Wings of Mind” directed by Junmoni Devi Khaund and will terminate with the closing film “Sobi” directed by Vineet Jha . The 20 shows taking part in the contest will include an English film “Life Without Gravity” directed by Sujit Debbarma ; a Marathi film “Black Game” directed by Vijay Khude ; a Malayalam film “Plan B” directed by Ajanan.S ; 3 Bengali films :”Chakra” directed by Kanad Nandi,”Biri” directed by Anirban Dutta and “Fish Bowl” with it’s director being Raunak Chakraborty. The other 14 films are of Assamese which include Babita Sarma’s “Far Sighted” , Mridul Chutia’s “Dhod” , Rupjyoti Sona’s “Dhund – a dark hole” , Chandra Shekhar Das’ “Murti” , Rajib Das’ “Aloof” , Palash Pratim Goswami’s “Bacteria” , Pranab Jyoti Barmn’s “Plight” , Preem Darjee’s “School Bag” , Abhigyan Kashyap’s “Xei Suwali Joni” , Arindam Barooah’s “Wings One’s Way” , Simanta Phukan’s “Paap” , Biju Das’ “Hand of Destiny” , Faiyad Mannan’s “Jerk” and Bhaskar Deka’s “Mitha Doi” .
Finally the closing and prize distribution ceremony will be held from 4 pm onwards . The results will be based on the jury and the votes acquired from the platform’s social media. The prizes will consist of Best Film , 2nd Best Film , 3rd Best Film , two Jury Special Prizes and a Most Popular Prize. There will be awards for the Best Director , Best Actor , Best Actress and Best Child Artist.
