Digital Desk, February 4: India’s first-ever winner of an Olympic athletics gold medal, Neeraj Chopra is one of the 6 nominees of the Laureus World Breakthrough of The Year Award. He has become the third person from India to get nominated for the award. Notably, the results will be declared in April after voting by Laureus World Sports Academy.
This year the nominees in 7 respective categories are selected by a panel of more than 1300 journalists and broadcasters across the world. It should be mentioned that Neeraj Chopra has become the second person from the country who begged the individual gold medal in Javeline Throw in the year 2021. Chopra expressed his happiness by saying that his eventful journey from being a child coming from a rural village of India to choosing a sport for the purpose of getting fit and to standing at the top of the Olympic podium.
