Today, the INDIA bloc parties staged a protest outside the Parliament, accusing the BJP-led government of using central probe agencies to target opposition leaders. Initially it was a protest by the Aam Aadmi Party but now it is a coordinated effort by the opposition INDIA Bloc. The opposition INDIA bloc is set to protest the Aam Aadmi Party’s attacks on investigative agencies, claiming that they are “misleading” the Supreme Court, today on the grounds of Parliament. The opposition’s protest comes after the Delhi court sent Kejriwal to judicial custody till July 12, in connection with the alleged excise scam. Last week, the CBI officially placed him under arrest. In a case related to the policy, the Delhi Chief Minister was previously taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Although the Delhi High Court Stayed the trial court’s bail awaited, he was recently granted one.
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and several leaders of the INDIA bloc, including those from the TMC and AAP, participated in the protest. The Opposition leaders carried placards which read “BJP mein jao bhrashtachar ka licence pao (Join the BJP and get a license for corruption)”and “stop misusing agencies to silence opposition”. Some AAP MPs also displayed posters of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal standing behind bars.
