New Delhi,September 28 : Erstwhile JNU student leader Kanhaiya Kumar on Tuesday united with the Congress in the presence of the party leader Rahul Gandhi in Delhi. Gujarat Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani enlarged his support to the alliance , even though he could not join the Congress “due to technical reasons” .
Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal and Gujarat Congress working President Hardik Patel were also present with Rahul Gandhi when they walked into the Congress party. Mr. Kumar explained that he joined the party because he felt that the country can’t survive without Congress.
“Congress party is like a big ship. If it’s saved , I believe many people’s aspirations , Mahatma Gandhi’s oneness , Bhagat Singh’s courage , and B R Ambedkar’s equality will be protected too” , he stated at a press meet. He also expressed his gratitude towards his previous organisation.
