Digital Desk, June 22: A group of Maharashtra MLAs led by Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde has arrived Guwahati on Wednesday. They were received by Pallab Lochan Das and Sushanta Borgohain at the airport. They arrived Guwahati from Surat. According to sources, Shiv Sena MLAs could not be confirmed at first, however, the flight had 89 passengers including onboard crew.
MLAs were taken to the hotel in three buses of Assam State Transport Corporation. The Shiv Sena MLAs are staying at a luxury hotel in the city, Radisson Blu. Shinde said after arriving Guwahati, ”A total of 40 MLAs are present here. We will carry Balasaheb Thackeray’s Hindutva. We have not left Balasaheb Thackeray’s Shiv Sena and will not leave it.”
Notably, on June 19, 1966, Balasaheb Thackeray founded Shiv Sena to advocate for the interest of Marathis . 40 MLAs consist of thirty-three Shiv Sena and seven independent MLAs. Significantly, this is perhaps for the first time that MLAs from a western Indian state are being taken to a Northeastern state after their rebellion against the party leadership. Their mission is regarded as ‘Mission Lotus’. Mission Lotus is directed by political maestro Himanta Biswa Sarma.
