Digital Desk, August 5: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote a letter to Chief Ministers of all states on Thursday. He appealed all states to include a chapter on Lachit Borphukan in the curriculum. It may be noted that Chakradhvaj Singha appointed Lachit Borphukan as the Commander-in-Chief of Ahom Kingdom in August 1667. Lachit Borphukan is considered as an exemplary of loyalism.

“Despite being a shining example of patriotism and love for one’s motherland, Lachit Borphukan’s accomplishments remain comparatively unknown in the many parts of the country. Inclusion of his history and valour in curriculum would contribute to spread of patriotic ideals among the youths and inspire them to dedicate themselves to the service of the nation,” Himanta Biswa Sarma stated in the letter written on August 4.
