Digital Desk, May 18: Hundreds of passengers have been affected on account of heavy flooding at the new Haflong railway station in Dima Hasao district of Assam. Heavy rains and landslides wreaked havoc in Dima Hasao district in the last couple of days.
Hundreds of passengers were airlifted after the Silchar-Guwahati Express (15616) was stranded between Dima Hasao and Cachar district due to incessant rainfall. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah assures ”all possible help” from Centre. He has directed the state’s chief secretary to hold a review meeting on Dima Hasao and other worst-affected districts. He wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter, ”Concerned about the situation in the wake of heavy rainfall in parts of Assam. Spoke to CM Shri @himantabiswa to take stock of the situation. NDRF teams have already been deployed. Assured all possible help from the Central Government.”
