Digital Desk, July 9: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on July 7, ”Guwahati will soon undergo an expansion that will make it even larger. Guwahati will be extended till Jagiroad in the East and it will reach up to Palashbari in the West. The both, Jagiroad and Palashbari will be connected through an eight-lane super highway directly from Guwahati.”
Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government will create satellite cities towards Palashbari around Guwahati. ”Just like Noida, Gurgaon have now become part of Delhi’s NCR Region, Guwahati, too, will be taken as a centre point from where on the city can expand on three directions. Guwahati is getting conjusted day by day and hence, it is a much needed move as the city’s population is continuously on rise while the total area of the city remains stagnant,” Himanta Biswa Sarma added.
