Digital Desk, April 19: The colour of the water in the Dikhow river in the Sivasagar district of Assam has changed its colour, first blue and then green. It is suspected that the chemical substances released in the coal mines near the upper reaches of the river in Nagaland is the main reason behind it.
Notably, Dikhow river flows by way of Sivasagar to finally join the Brahmaputra river at Dikhowmukh of Assam. The locals said, soon after the dead fishes were seen floating on April 13, the water started to change its colour, first blue and then green.
It may be mentionable that the majority of the population depends on the water of Dikhow river for daily needs. Several organisations of Sivasagar district have demanded an inquiry in this regard.
