Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Who has been detained in connection with a money laundering case involving the purported excise policy scam, filed a complaint contesting his arrest, and the Delhi High Court (HC) is set to rule on it today. The ruling on Arvind Kejriwal’s plea will be made by Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma at 2.30 pm. While Arvind Kejriwal maintains that the case against him is a “political conspiracy”, the probe agency remains firm in its stance to arrest the Aam Aadmi Party leader. From his cell in the Tihar Jail, Arvind Kejriwal continues to lead the government of Delhi.
Notably, Kejriwal has contested not only his arrest but also his subsequent remand in the custody of the ED. On April 1, the Rouse Avenue Court sent him to judicial custody till April 15.
The AAP national convener has questioned the “timing” of his arrest by the agency and said it was in contravention of the basic structure of the constitution, including democracy, free and fair elections and a level playing field.
