Bhabendra Nath Saikia expressed great thoughts through less words: Sarmistha Pritam

Digital Desk, February 21: ”Writing is my passion. Writing is a silent practice from within. I love to walk with people through writing,” Sarmistha Pritam had expressed her notion after receiving Bhabendra Nath Saikia Memorial Award, 2021 at Rabindra Bhawan. She had received a certificate with 25 thousand rupees, Japi, Arnai, Seleng Sadar. She had dedicated the award to late father Abhay Baruah. It may be mentionable that Indrajit Das of Akashvani, Partha Sarathi Mahanta, joint police commissioner of Guwahati, poet-actor,  Pradip Baruah, editor of Prantik were also present at the prestigious programme.

It may be recalled that she studied Economics and graduated with good academic marks. She had published a collection of articles called Daworiya Akaxor Beli, a collection of poems called Domokali and an autobiography Atmakatha. Notably, her fourth book called Alphulor Xopun was written for children. Her works include Antaheen, Rang, Balukat Biyali Bela, etc. Additionally, her awards include Munin Borkakati Award, 2021, State government literary award, 2017, Gitanjali Baruah Mili Literary Award, 2017, Krishna Kanta Handiqui National Fellowship, etc.
