Assam’s reowned actor Nipan Goswami passes away

News desk : Nipan Goswami is no more. The eminent actor Nipan Goswami passes away on October 27, at the age of 80 in Guwahati’s Nemcare Hospital. As per the reports, the veteran actor had been sufferring from heart related ailments, and brought to the hospital on October 24. Goswami was kept under observation at ICU at cardiology department of Nemcare Hospital.

80 years old actor was born in Tezpur, Assam on 3rd September, 1942. His father’s name was Chandradhar Goswami and his mother was Nirupama Goswami. He did his primary schooling from Kolibari LP school. Later, he completed his higher secondary in Darrang College. He also studied acting at the Film and Television Institute of India. Nipan Goswami tried his hands on film direction in Assamese Film Industry, also has been part of more than 100 films in his acting career. In 1957 Goswami debuted in the Assamese Film Industry as a child artist in the movie Piyali Phukan, directed by Phani Sarma. Sangram was his first Assamese film as a lead actor. Goswami has acted in several Assamese films like Shiraj, Deutar Biya, Priya O Priya, Aparupa, Ghar Khankar etc. He has also been involved in Mobile Theatres, including Abaahan, Kohinoor, Hengul, and Shakuntala. He has also appeared in few Tv serials.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma twitted about his association with Goswami when he worked as a child artist in ‘Koka Deuta Nati Aru Hati’. CM also said that Assam will never be able to forget Goswami for his contributuion to Assamese Industry and expressed condolences to the Goswami’s bereaved family.
