Assam cabinet doubling of Azara-Kamakhya railway tracks, 4 new polytechnics

The Assam cabinet on Tuesday evening, approved of project, including the doubling of railway tracks in the Azara-Kamakhya section via Goalpara and the allocation of Rs 150 crore for the construction of three new polytechnic institutes.

Announcing the decision, Cabinet Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah told the press that the cabinet sanctioned the allocation of eight bighas of government land for the railway track expansion.

Highlighting the project’s importance in enhancing connectivity between Guwahati city and areas along the southern bank of the Brahmaputra. During a briefing on the cabinet meeting chaired by chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Baruah explained that the cabinet sanctioned eight bighas of government land for the double-lining work of railway tracks in the Azara-Kamakhya section via Goalpara.

“To increase capacity of the railway network in the region and generate employment opportunities for local youth, The Assam Cabinet has accorded approval of the transfer of 8 bighas of government land in favour of NF Railways for the construction of a doubling railway line between the Azara-Kamakhya”, Assam CM said.
