On Tuesday, Aam Aadmi Party national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arwind Kejriwal thanked the apex court and their judgment and said the Judgement has saved democracy in these difficult times and also said “the situation in the country is such that dictatorship is going on. Democracy is being trampled. At such a time, this decision of the supreme court holds a lot of significance for democracy.”
Kejriwal while addressing a press conference said, “we have snatched away victory from them. They had ‘stolen’ the election, the votes. But we fought till the end and won. Those who said BJP can’t defeat BJP can defeat with unity, with good planning, strategy and hard work.”
Apex court ordered 8 ‘invalid’ vote casts toward party candidate Kuldeep Kumar to be treated as valid. Delhi minister and AAP leader, Saurabh Bhardwaj, while saying that the Indian democracy had “triumphed” with this verdict, added that this was “a matter of concern for the country”. The way Supreme Court brought the ballot papers (to the court) and declared the results was the first time since independence that has happened.
