Tele-MANAS a Mental Health Helpline service launched

On Oct 11, Tuesday Tele-MANAS was launched by Governor of Karnataka Thawar Chand Gehlot (NIMHANS), National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences on the occasion of World Mental Health Day. Tele Mental Health Assistance and Networking Across State (Tele-MANAS) is an initiative of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and its objective is to provide free tele-mental health service all over the country.

A 24/7 helpline number, 14416 has been set up across the country and it will also allow the caller to select the language of their choice. The helpline service will be organized in two-tier system. Along with other States and Union Territories also Assam is launching Tele Mental Health Programme.
