Digital Desk, April 12: At least sixteen students from both groups were injured in a clash in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) located in New Delhi on Sunday. Chaos ruled at the campus when Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) students objected to non-vegetarian food being served at one of the hostels, Kaveri.
Both Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) labelled allegations of a pre-planned attack against one another whereas ABVP’S JNU Wing President, Rohit Kumar told that they were not against the non-vegetarian food being served in the hostel mess. The ABVP added that Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) students were against the conduct of the Ram Navami pooja and attacked them with stick while the rituals were being performed.
”We have deployed our teams outside the campus. If the university makes a request, definitely our personnel will be deployed inside the campus,” a police official said in this regard.
