Guwahati: The Assam government launched India’s first app based Electric Bike taxi Service ‘Baayu’ with initiative taken by Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) in collaboration with Bikozee Ecotech a startup from Assam. The event was flagged off by Assam Minister of Transport Parimal Suklabaidya in Guwahati on Sunday, 6 January. It is said to be India’s first app-based 100% electric and decentralized bike taxi service.
A sustainable initiative launched by ASTC, Baayu an eco-friendly transportation service aims to generate 5,000 livelihood opportunities supporting electric vehicles, insurance, training, skill development and operating license in line with Assam Aggregator rules 2022. “Baayu- Clean air Movement” is supported by NITI Aayog’s Shoonya Zero pollution mobility campaign that aims to improve the air quality and public health of our cities as it will save an astounding 29,000 tons of carbon emission annually.
