A man from UP gets 10 years of jail for keeping cow meat in house

A man was sentenced to 10 years in jail who was caught with 20 kgs cow meat, in 2021 Kajure area of Uttar Pradesh Raipur. The accused, Haneef, a resident of Teri Khwaja was caught after police, action on trip off that he was selling cow meat raided house when covid restrictions was imposed during second wave. The chargesheet was filled in court in October 2021, It was investigated by SI Rajesh Shukla.
Announcing the punishment on 22 December 2023,  district and session Judge (AD) Sanjeeve Tiwari  said, “This is the maximum punishment that can be given after and amendment in section 8 of UP prevention of Cow Slaughter Act was made in 2020.
Further Rampur SP Rajesh Deividi told that case under the cow slaughter Act were brought under mission conviction, campaign this year. This is the one of the few judgments in this state when the accused was awarded jail term and as per the amended law to prevent cow slaughter in UP.
