Wasn’t invited for the finals claims former captain Kapil Dev

Australia defeated India in the ICC World Cup 2023 on Nov 19, Sunday which was held at Narendra Modi stadium, Ahmedabad. Kapil Dev, former captain of Indian cricket team who led India’s first ODI World Cup title in 1983 has sparked a debate for not getting invited for ICC World Cup finals.

“I wasn’t invited there. They didn’t call me so I did not go. As simple as that” said the 1983 World Cup-winning captain. “it’s such a big event and people are so busy handling responsibilities, sometimes they forget,” he added. Dev’s statement has filled the internet with reactions across the globe.

 Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut claims BJP, BCCI and ICC has insulted cricket icon Kapil Dev for not inviting him for the finals. Raut said, “BJP chose to insult Kapil Dev. They invited politicians of all hues and actors who are close to the party. But they did not bother to extend the same courtesy to the giant of Indian cricket”.
