19 year old Manipal student donates organs to help save others

A student of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) has given his life to others through organ donation. 19 year old student, Vemula Sudarshan Chowdhary from Guruzala mandal in Andhra Pradesh, was declared brain dead by a panel of doctors after he suffered severe injuries in a road accident. The accident that took place at Manipal around 8-40 pm on Sunday, the student was severely injured and admitted to Kasturba Hospital for treatment. 

As per Jeevasarthakathe, SOTTO, Bengaluru protocols and decision, the liver was sent to KMC Hospital, Ambedkar circle, Mangaluru, lungs to aster CMI, Bengaluru, one kidney to AJ Hospital, Manglauru, one corneas/eyeballs and skin were retained by Kasturba Hospital, Manipal for registered patients, on Sunday.

Sudarshan family said that, “organ donations is a Noble cause and my son has committed a great deed even in his death.

The Harvest organs were transferred to the recipient hospital with the support of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district police unit from Manipal to Mangaluru, via a green corridor.
